Cooliris (formerly Piclens) is revolutionizing the way we search, view, and enjoy media and digital assets. While the product has been around for a few years, it continues to become more polished and impressive. Cooliris uses a “moving wall display” of pictures and video and is employed as a plug-in for Firefox, a popular web browser. They have also included the ability to “embed” the product into an existing website and various SDK\Developer toolkits.

Cooliris (http://www.cooliris.com/) displays content using a digital wall, with amazing speed. It also provides for sharing and viewing media directly from the wall display.

EMC CenterStage

I wonder who will be the first to implement something like this in their DAM product. EMC’s has clearly been leading the way with user interfaces geared toward web2.0 in the Enterprise space. Products such as Documentum Media WorkSpace andDocumentum Centerstage are clearly filling the need for easy to use and feature rich digital asset management and collobartion systems. From our point of view we see users  looking for more then just the ability to “find assets”, they want and often demand the same tools and user experiance they get with popular websites using thier “Home PC”.
